Sports Injuries & Prevention
Among common sports injuries are shoulder dislocations, ACL tears, tennis elbow, shin splints, concussions, knee injuries, fractures, and ankle sprains. Sports injuries may be recurring and chronic, like shoulder or knee pain due to misalignment or overuse, while other injuries may be the result of a one-time collision or fall. In both cases, preventive measures will help lower your risk of injury. Some standard prevention measures include: proper stretching and warm-ups; support braces or padding; muscle strengthening; pacing activity to decrease repetition; a proper diet, and maintaining a healthy weight. As part of a holistic approach to treatment, we will discuss how to incorporate these preventive steps into your routine during your visit to the office.
